What is your role in the industry? What does your organisation do?
As the CEO and Founder of DigiHaul, I’m here to get logistics moving smoothly, saving businesses money and reducing “empty miles” on the road. Through our technology, we connect hauliers and customers to ensure the product gets delivered on time, and in an efficiently sustainable way. DigiHaul runs on data and technology, but we are powered by people who are committed to excellence. We’re all about making sure companies have smarter, greener logistics options at their fingertips.

Why are you and/or your organisation getting involved in National Lorry Week 2024?
We have had our wheels in motion with the Road Haulage Association since DigiHaul’s founding back in 2020. National Lorry Week is our time to recognise the heroes of haulage and celebrate the road warriors, planners, and everyone behind the scenes who keep things ticking. It’s about showing the world logistics is as much about people as it is about products.

Why is it important to celebrate the road transport industry?
Most people never think about what it takes to get a product from point A to point B, especially when point A is miles away and across a motorway!

Celebrating the road transport industry brings awareness to the sheer grit, planning, and determination that goes into keeping our shelves stocked and businesses running. We want everyone to see that this sector isn’t just about trucks on the road – it’s about the people who make it happen. Without them, we’d be looking at a world with a lot fewer products on the shelves and a lot more “out of stock” signs.

Are there any misconceptions about road transport that you would like to put right?
Absolutely! One big misconception is that lorries and haulage are all about traffic jams and emissions. In reality, logistics is leading the charge in sustainability, with smarter routes, greener tech, and fewer empty miles than ever. We are not just clogging the motorways; we’re working tirelessly to minimise impact and maximise efficiency, from hybrid trucks to optimised routes. And trust me, we’d rather see a busy, fully loaded truck than a line of stationary traffic any day!

What issues must we raise awareness about in road transport, and why are they important?
Empty miles! As a road haulage fan, there’s nothing worse than seeing a lorry with its 5th wheel up (meaning it’s not carrying a load). It’s a wasted trip and wasted fuel, and it’s something we’re laser-focused on at DigiHaul. Reducing these empty journeys not only boosts efficiency but also reduces emissions. Our roads are at their best when every journey counts, so we’re all about maximising each mile and making sure every lorry is fully loaded for the long haul.

On the 10th anniversary of National Lorry Week, what excites you about the future of road transport?
What doesn’t excite me?! We’re looking at a future where digital and sustainable solutions take centre stage, and I can’t wait to see how much more efficient we can make every journey. With innovations like autonomous trucks, AI-powered route planning, and zero-emission vehicles on the horizon, the next 10 years in road transport are going to be transformative. It’s about keeping our industry moving forward in a way that’s smarter, greener, and as streamlined as possible. Here’s to the next decade of progress!
