Sponsor Focus: Tructyre

We speak to Richard Martin, Commercial Director at Tructyre, one of this year’s National Lorry Week sponsors. Tructyre are the complete tyre management specialists for trucks, trailers, buses and coaches.

Could you tell us a bit more about Tructyre?

We’re focused on one simple goal: to de-risk Britain’s fleets through offering a complete tyre management package. We want to raise public awareness of the complexity of running a fleet of vehicles, in terms of compliance and road safety, and highlight why tyre safety is one of the most important elements of staying safe and compliant.

Why is it important to celebrate the road transport industry?

The industry is often undervalued and taken for granted, despite the leading role it plays in maintaining critical services and supplies for the whole of the UK. Not to mention, transportation is essential, at some point, to almost every industry. We are reliant on transportation for critical raw materials and end products – food, medical supplies, fuel, water, waste, furniture, construction, etc.

If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that the transport industry, the operators, drivers and all the firms supporting the transportation industry are the glue that bind us all together – it is important to remind the country of that.

What do you find exciting about working in road transport?

No two days are the same – there is always something different and something new to learn. It’s a dependable career that helps the whole country moving. We are always on the lookout for tyre technicians to help us keep our roads safe.

There’s a huge variety of roles within transportation when you consider the overall supply chain and supporting industries. At Tructyre, we have over 300 mobile technicians at the centre of our commercial tyre management business – inspecting tyres, carrying out life extending services and responding to roadside tyre emergencies.
