Sponsor Focus: SNAP

blog -

We speak to Josh Cousens, Content & Digital Marketing Manager of National Lorry Week sponsor, SNAP.

Could you tell us a bit more about SNAP?

SNAP connects HGV journeys across Europe – from depot to destination.

We connect 145,000 truck drivers with over 400 truck parking and washing locations, enable stress-free Dartford crossings, and are on hand for any accidents or breakdowns. Nort only that, but now drivers can use SNAP to refuel their trucks.

We’ve also helped to open over 600,000 additional truck parking spaces via our Depot Parking scheme, allowing fleet owners to rent out the empty spaces in their yard to SNAP drivers and increase revenue. We also provide bespoke security solutions to reduce the threat of cargo crime.

Why are you getting involved in this year’s National Lorry Week?

We want to show our support for the unrelenting efforts of the road transport industry and highlight the need for facility improvements for drivers.

Within the last couple of years, haulage professionals have had to battle Covid, Brexit and a national driver shortage, but still succeeded in keeping our country running.

We want to challenge the stigma around road transport, and we hope that National Lorry Week can be the springboard for positive change.

What kind of careers does the industry offer?

The road transport industry is so much more than truck driving.

Fleet operators, site managers, freight forwarders, administration staff and warehouse coordinators are just a few of the vital careers involved. The sector relies on collaborative cogs to keep the haulage wheels turning.

There’s a common misconception that all truckers are men, but we have seen the emergence of some brilliant female HGV drivers and logistics professionals who fly the flag for the industry.

What excites you about the future of road transport?

We’re really excited about the next generation of road transport specialists coming to help us keep our country moving.

Technology is quickly evolving too, and sustainability is becoming a growing concern, so we are looking forward to seeing the industry’s advancements in environmental action.
